Husbands Who Don’t Work Full-Time May Be More Likely to Get Divorced
A recent Harvard study on couples suggests that it’s not a couple’s finances that affect their chances of divorce, but rather the division of labor. When the researcher looked at heterosexual marriages that began after 1975, she learned that couples in which the husband didn’t have a full-time job had a 3.3% chance of divorcing the following year, compared to 2.5% among couples in which the husband did have a full-time job.
THE SCENARIO:
He has lied about paying the bills, did the money go for gambling, drugs, women or men (that fact no one found out about) bottom line…the mortgage has not been paid. Now, put your feet in those shoes; imagine this is you and you find out your home is in foreclosure; you have children (1 with special needs). Now you hire and pay dearly for the attorney to halt the foreclosure and you have to make it possible to sell your house fast before you lose everything. You keep discovering one complication after another. A few things that are emotionally draining to say the least. What are your options? List with a Realtor(that may or may not be a good one) it takes decluttering your home to be able to show the home, waiting for open house days, keeping the house clean. How long could that take?…..Wait, the new buyer didn’t qualify after all! There are home updates needed and damage to fix in the home. You are pressured because the cash you need from the home is the cash you need to move to another location where the job you’ve landed is waiting. Plus, explain to the kids everyone is moving and there will be a new school. But you have to call 2 schools to make those arrangements.
